Apart from the aesthetics, striking a balance among livability, profitability, marketability and maintainability of a building or a place through our design is essential in ensuring the welfare of our clients as an investor and the building users who will eventually be the long-term occupants. LWYA is committed to deliver quality works and services to our clients, bearing in mind our core values and relentless explorations.
Principal
Ar. Edmund Liew graduated from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, United Kingdom and had since worked in established architectural practices in Kuala Lumpur. Edmund is registered with Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) and Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM).
Edmund spent his first few years of his practice in a small architecture firm where he was exposed to several landed housing masterplan and projects which were fast-paced and intricate in every detail of a dwelling. He had the opportunities to work on developments by prominent local developers such as Gamuda, UEM Sunrise, Sime Darby and Selangor Dredging Berhad. Edmund had subsequently moved on to another medium-large architecture firm which exposed him to more large-scale and complex projects which included premium condominiums, affordable apartment, office, hotel and retail. Edmund had also acquired experiences from an array of interior design and interior design-and-build projects for residences, offices and also institution since he founded his first design firm Akiruna Design back then.
On the other hand, Edmund also has a keen interest in urban design. Inspired by Andrés Duany and Jane Jacobs, he believes that successful urban design and place-making are able to influence the well-being, social and economic aspects of a community or a city. In addition, walkable cities which are contrary to the phenomenon of urban sprawl are able to address urbanisation and the current environmental issues better. Edmund was honoured to be awarded 2nd place in the RTPI West Scotland Chapter Town Planning Student Award during his final year as a student. In addition, he was also awarded Special Mention Award & UM Community Choice Award in the University Malaya Masterplan Idea Compeition; and also 3rd place in the Singapore-JB RTS Link Station Design Competition.
